Description

VG+++, small pickguard era. We love early J-45 models. Like the Fender Strat it is/was hugely popular and now an icon. The warm bass, long sustain, and crisp upper midrange never gets old. As you know, small-pickguard J-45s up to 1956 had thinner braces and generally sound better. True here, this one is a cannon. Now it’s back from our shop. You’ll remember we send almost all used acoustics and amps to the spa. There is a plugged screw hole that at one point in the last 70 years had a screw going through the X-brace (one can only guess). The braces are all checked and and reglued where needed. It has the original small maple bridge plate. The bridge is a very well-done older replacement, and was moved back to get proper intonation. The jack area once had a larger hole with four screws from a jack plate. Now that hole is filled with mahogany and a proper modern jack/strap button, as a K&K Pure Mini was installed. Surprisingly, there are no cracks. Yes, lots of dings and scratches but no cracks. The tuners look like originals with new buttons, the frets are in great condition, and the nut is original with the original lacquer on the sides,, and a nice dark original Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. The lacquer has yellowed, giving the whole guitar a glow, Sunburst indeed. It has had a neck set and plays very smoothly up and down the neck. The tone is sublime. Comes with newer hard case.
