Description

First year of issue, pre-lawsuit, pre-serial number, very clean, super-light at just a hair over 6 pounds, all-original save for replaced output jack. Made for Hoshino Gakki by FujiGen, the 2459 is (obviously) a copy of a Gibson Explorer, but an awfully good one. The body is ash in a finish Ibanez called “African Korina” with some very nice figure. Three-piece maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, pearl dots, very cool factory “Smooth Tuner” machine heads with the star logo on the backs, pearl Inlaid cursive Ibanez logo, 3-ply white pickguard, a pair of factory Maxon-made Super 70 humbuckers with standard Explorer-style controls, and the original “Harmonic-o-matic” fixed bridge with stoptail. Very familiar-feeling 24.75” scale length and 1 & 11/16” nut width. Structurally and electronically sound, plays, feels, and sounds great, incredible looks. This model is of course the same that Eddie used extensively on the first Van Halen record, and was also seen in the hands of Ace Frehley on, coincidentally, on “Destroyer”. Haven’t had one of these since…ever. Great guitar, fairly rare, extremely cool. Made in Japan, comes in its factory hard case. Consigned.
