Description: This 1954 ES-150 features a Double Bound 17" body, Sunburst finish on the Maple top, and a dark Natural finish on the Maple back and sides and Mahogany neck. A Bound Rosewood fretboard, with trapezoid inlays, 20 frets, 1 P-90 pickup, and an adjustable Rosewood bridge, with a new trapeze tailpiece installed. Another nice feature is the long b-w-b-w-b pickguard. The original Kluson tuners have been fitted with new buttons, a 1-11/16" nut, 25-1/2" scale, complete the details. In addition to serial numbers, Gibson also used factory order numbers (FON) to identify and track batches of instruments through production. Through the years 1952 to 1961 the FON may be the only identification number on certain models. The numbers are usually stamped or written on the instrument's back and seen through the lower F hole. The FON of this guitar is X9292 3.2, this confirms the year of production is 1954. This is a truly wonderful early Gibson, the finish on the back of the neck is so nice, we are almost convinced that the neck may have been refinished, we really can't be sure. The prior owner purchased this instrument from Elderly, and they made no mention of the neck possibly being refinished. The frets and neck angle are all fine, it plays and sounds great. This guitar is very collectible, and usable. A nice opportunity to own a piece of history.
