SORRY SOLD 1929 Martin 00-40H (converted) SN: 40xxx. Sweet 00-40H converted from the original Hawaiian setup by Mark Tossman. One of 44 made that year and judging from the serial number and belly bridge it was made very late in the year. Very tight grain Adirondack top, quarter-sawn Brazilian rosewood back and sides, pearl trim around the top and rosette, and ebony fretboard with special inlays. As part of the conversion, the neck has been reset, the fingerboard was slightly radiused and set up with old style bar frets, and a new exact repro bridge with a compensated saddle was made and fitted. Original tuners, nut, pick guard, bridge plate, bracing, and finish. No cracks anywhere. There is very little sign of wear. The neck is a fulsome feeling 1 7/8” at the nut with the V shape. String spacing at the bridge is just under 2 ½” making it a fingerpickers delight. It’s a very responsive player with nice overtones and balance. I’ve paired it with a 1920’s case that fits perfectly. A wonderful instrument.
