Description

SN: 43668. This fine OM-28 is a one family guitar purchased by the shop back in 2001. Small guard, banjo tuners, grade A Brazilian, herringbone trim, it’s all here. The entire guitar was oversprayed yet the original finish and glorious patina lurked underneath. Our Luthier removed much of the overspray on the top down to the original finish. The top looks great and responds as it should.
Having been stolen – and recovered – we pulled the neck to verify the serial number, which Martin wrote on the neck joint. The neck was reset to a perfect angle, bridge reglued, the frets leveled and crowned. A bit more overspray was rubbed off on the back and sides. The result is a stunning example with an outstanding voice.
The top is crack free. Two small, tight side cracks are well repaired. The neck shape is an easy V shape and very comfortable, not as clubby as the later 30s Martins. This guitar sounds outstanding, having a harmonically rich, fat tone with the characteristic prewar clarity and sparkle on the treble strings. It ships in what we believe is the original case. The banjo tuners are replacements but the original will ship with the guitar. A wonderful guitar in all respects for less than half the price of a more original example.
