Description

This incredible jazz guitar is one of just six prototypes that Collings built before the Eastside LC model went into regular production back in 2012. These prototypes were built with a 3" body depth, with X-type bracing and a Lollar Imperial humbucker, while the actual production models have a 2.5" depth, parallel bracing and a Lollar Charlie Christian. In all other major respects, however, the specifications are the same, including: a select figured laminated Maple body with 16" lower bout; nitrocellulose gloss finish; Mahogany neck with medium/fat C-shape; Rosewood fretboard with 12" radius, medium frets, 1 11/16" bone nut and 24 7/8" scale length; custom Collings floating Ebony bridge/tailpiece; Ebony pickguard; a single Lollar low-wind humbucker with CTS pots and Jupiter caps. It weighs under 6 pounds. With it's slightly deeper body, theory has it that this guitar pushes a bit more air than the production models for a bit thicker tone, but you be the judge. All I know is that this jazz box puts out an absolutely amazing vintage style jazz tone and is built and plays superbly. This example is in near mint condition too, with just the slightest evidence of play. It comes with it's original and near mint Collings/Ameritage case and paperwork and is setup with .12" nickel strings with wound G per Collings recommendations. If you are in the market for a ultra-high quality American-made jazz guitar at an attainable price, this Collings Eastside should be on your short list. Another impressive instrument from Collings Guitars....
