  • Description: DBZ IMPERIAL ARTIST GUITAR Built for Kerri Kelly Of the Alice Cooper band as one of a pair and he selected the Bolero as his personal guitar, so this one was returned to DBZ. Because it is an Artist guitar, The electronics have been upgraded from the standard electronics in a Premier Series instrument. The Small coin or medallion was put there by the manufacturer to cover a hole in the heel from a previous strap button as Kerri Kelly wanted it moved to the horn. Photo 10 is from the DBZ photos of Kerri Kelly with The DBZ guitars. Here is some info that my sales rep sent me regarding this guitar, and information that He recieved directly from Dean Zelinsky: Chris, I did a bit of research and this is what Dean Zelinsky told me. The guitar you have was created for Keri Kelli, guitarist for Alice Cooper. Dean had a number of guitars made as "artist" models. Keri ultimately selected a Bolero for his personal guitar, so Dean allowed the guys in the warehouse to ship that guitar as a stock Imperial. Because the guitar has an "F" serial number and the volute, we know it came from the second of the two factories employed by DBZ in China. There is a story about the medallion on the back of the guitar also. Keri saw some pics of prototypes before checking them out, and the strap button was on the back of the guitar at the heel of the neck. He told Dean that he thought a lot of pros would prefer it on the "horn" of the guitar. Dean had a number of the medallions made to be placed in the strap button hole left by the automated drill press rather than changing the programming on the machine. (I really don't know how many medallions actually exist.) Regardless, that's the story of the guitar you have in your store. I hope this clears up the mystery.
