  • Description: This 1967 gorgeous sunburst guitar is all original and is in amazing condition. It is named for Howard Roberts, an American Jazz guitartist, best known for playing the theme music to The Twilight Zone and Munsters. It has a figured one piece bound mahogany neck that is 1 11/16" at the nut. The fingerboard is rosewood with split block pearl inlays. The carved top is solid spruce with 3 ply binding. The maple body and back are set off with creme binding. A bound oval soundhole and 3 ply white beveled pickguard set off the florentine style single cutaway body. It's a fairly light guitar, weighing only 5lbs 9oz.. The width at the lower bout is 16". Other features include black top hat volume and tone controls knobs, a Johnny Smith type floating humbucker pickup, a compensated rosewood bridge, Grover chrome tuners and a headstock with pearl inlaid Epiphone logo. This Epiphone has a rather unusual frequensator chrome tailpiece. There a few very tiny surface scratches and has almost no wear at all. The previous owner engraved his Social Security number on the back of the headstock and on the bottom of the chrome tailpiece. A laminated sticker from a local shop covers the number on the back of the headstock. The guitar plays great, has nice voicing and action. The hardshell case is not original.
