In 2015 Fender produced ten special runs of guitars; our Korina Tele is from the 9th run of the ten and quantities of each run were limited. The body is made from korina, what those ultra-rare zillion-dollar Gibson Flying V’s from back then were made of, instead of Fender's usual alder or swamp ash. It comes in what Fender called Blackguard Blonde - the classic Blonde finish with a black pickguard. With its “U”-shaped contour on the back of the neck and a 21-fret maple fingerboard, black dot inlays and period correct frets, it feels just oh-so-right from one end to the other. The pickups are American Vintage `52 Tele single-coils and together with the korina body they act as a time machine to the early fifties. This Tele has about the most unique sound as all getout I’ve ever heard while maintaining that smackdown Tele knockout sound we’ve all come to love, forever. This Fender is HOT HOT HOT. Classic strings-through-body bridge with brass saddles and vintage-style tuners complete the specs list. Coupla things to note: There are two chips in the paint down near the bottom, hopefully gotten in a bar fight. Badge of courage in my book and part of the story, and one end of the case is also somewhat crunched, no idea. One of the three case latches won't stay closed but that’s OK, case is still quite functional. All that original Fender case stuff is still there inside: cool leather strap, all them Fender papers, cable, and of course the “ashtray” bridge cover that everyone always leaves off (and it's still in its original plastic baggie) but still. All this for only $1995 w/ohsc
