  • Description: This is an 1964 Fender® Champ® Amp, the highly-collectible "Transition Model," so-called because these were the last amps that Fender® made with the chrome panel in the top like the old, old ones (prior to the modern era), and the first year that they did their amps in black tolex and silver grille cloth. This handsome scheme has been used for a number of years now in several of their modern printed-circuit-board amps; this is THE rare original that was only made for about a year. This amp is in lovely near mint condition. And, of course, old Champs have quite a legendary reputation in recording studios. Circuit is the classic, highly desirable 5F1, which uses a 5Y3 rectifier tube, a 6V6 power tube, and a 12AX7/ECC83 preamp tube. The chassis is stock, and has never had any mods, except that the power cord has been changed to a proper, safe, 3-conductor grounded cord. While the overdrive starts on this amp at about 4 on the dial, it goes all the way up to 12. Includes the original speaker and a quite lovely Kendrick 8" that is currently in place. My bet is that you will likely leave it there! Tolex and grille are 100% with only a tad bit of dust residue to clean out. Panel looks great with a few rubbed numbers. This amp is 100% functional, has no issues, and kicks a lot of screamin' booty for only being rated at 6 watts.
