Description

A wonderfully clean 1967 Fender Coronado II in Translucent Red with a subtle burst of Candy Apple Red! By the mid-1960s, Fender had a firm grasp on the solid-bodied guitar market but did not have any offerings to compete with hollow and semi-hollow guitar makers. With the mighty popularity of the Beatles using hollow-bodied guitars, Fender tasked Roger Rossmeisl of Rickenbacker to design a competing hollow-bodied model, which became the Coronado. The reason Fender opted to use a slightly darker color to “burst” the edges was to obscure the burn marks left by the router when used for binding. If you’re familiar with the “Antigua” finish, it originated for the same reason! This one was certainly played, and the frets reflect honest wear from years of use.

Overall Condition: 8.5, neck wear and overall patina
