Description

The Jazzmaster, although arguably not as popular as vintage Strats, Teles, or Les Pauls, is beloved by those in the know for its unique sound, feel, and playability. From Elvis Costello to Television to Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr the cult of the Jazzmaster has only grown larger over the years. This beautiful ’65 Jazzmaster sports a gorgeous 3-tone sunburst finish, tortoise pick guard, and distinctive off-set Jazzmaster body shape. The maple neck features an unbound rosewood finger board with pearloid dot inlays and Kluson Deluxe tuning machines. It also has unique volume and tone knobs that were added to the Jazzmaster in 1965, sometimes referred to as “witch hat knobs” due to the wider skirt and metal tops. The original bridge pickup was professionally re-wound by Lindy Fralin to match appropriately with the neck pickup output. The guitar sounds gorgeous now, full of that gloriously unique Jazzmaster single coil tonality. It plays like a dream and has been professionally set-up by our in-house tech for optimal playability. The Jazzmaster floating vibrato system is nice and responsive, allowing for nice and easy surf-rock shakes and reverb-soaked post rock rumbles. There are some light scuffs and wear marks but otherwise the guitar is in incredible condition. Unlike other Jags and Jazzmasters we’ve seen, the pickguard has not significantly warped over time. There is a small bit of warping towards the edge of the bass-string side of the bridge but otherwise the guard looks to have survived the evil hands of time. The neck feels nice and broken-in without showing significant wear. The frets also have wear but still feel like they have lots of life ahead for them. The Jazzmaster is a classic guitar that has found its way into the hands of some of the most inventive guitarists of all-time. Who knows what amazing sounds this guitar will make in the future? Includes original hard shell case
