  • Description: The Lead series guitars were made by Fender® in the Fullerton during the “Smith Era” plant with the same quality standards of Strats and Teles. The most expensive model was the Lead III which offered a wide variety of sounds with the two splittable humbuckers. Lead III’s are also rarer than Ones and Twos. This guitar is fairly clean, but someone has glued in the body ferrules and done a pretty sloppy job leaving glue residue on the body that I have not been able to remove. There are some scratches on the back of the body caused by a belt buckle. There’s a ding on the back of the headstock. There has been some reaction to the fur inside the case causing some blotches and some of the fur to stick to the finish on the lower edge of the body. The frets and fingerboard are in very nice shape. This guitar has a 25.5 inch scale and weighs 7 lbs 15 oz.
