Offered for sale;

Used 1966 Fender Mustang serial number 113755.

This guitar is in very good condition, neck and frets are fine. Cosmetically this Mustang was born red and at some point earlier in its life it was refinished in what we would call Sonic Blue.

There are “marks & nicks” and finish wear about the body, this ‘stang has seen a lot of action and is ready for more.

When this guitar came to us, it was fitted with two non-original 2 position pickup switches which we replaced with two original style 3 position switches. The volume pot is new, the tone pot appears original. The pick guard is new.

From the 1966-1967 Fender catalog:

“The Fender Mustang meets the demand for a fine, low priced model with tremolo…Two high-fidelity pickups are standard on each guitar with a three position switch for each. The middle position turns the pickups off. [In opposite directions it puts the pickups out of phase with each other]

…the…24” necks are reinforced with an adjustable truss-rod which maintains perfect neck alignment. The bridge channel features a new barrel-type individual [saddle] for each string. Each [saddle] varies in size to conform to the fingerboard curve and is adjustable for length…The new patented Fender easy-action Dynamic Tremolo working in conjunction with the Floating-bridge has extremely smooth action, returning to pitch without variance.”

Most aficionados know the Mustang story of how it evolved from the Duo-Sonic and Musicmaster student guitars into the darling of alternative and indie rock players.

The Mustang with its short 24” scale is very easy to play, and is very responsive.

Notable Players: Todd Rundgren (now playing the Eastwood Backlund), Kurt Cobain, John Frusciante, David Byrne

Mustangs have been reissued a number of times, own an original!

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
