Description
The blackface era Fender Princeton Reverb is an iconic amplifier that has become one of the most desirable recording amps today. Its versatile platform is just as comfortable at home, in the studio or at a gig. This amp is powered by a pair of 12ax7 preamp tubes driving two 6v6 power tubes making about 12 watts of power. It’s tube rectified and uses a 12at7 and 7025 to drive the spring reverb and tremolo section. The 10″ speaker is housed in a fingerjointed Pine cabinet for tone and ease of portability. Unlike the reissue, the original Princeton Reverb is all hand wired using an eyelet board to keep everything clean. The resulting amplifier boasts big cleans, smooth overdriven tones, classic Fender reverb and some of the finest tremolo around.

This particular Princeton Reverb was manufactured in early 1965 (OA tube chart code) and has suffered no damage, repairs or heavy playing time. This is one of the amps you hear about with an incorrect tube chart (they must have run out of Reverb charts). All parts are original to the amplifier except for a three prong power cord. All tubes are also original to the amp and include a Mullard GZ34 rectifier, two RCA 6v6 power amp tubes, and RCA, GE and Amperex preamp tubes. The reverb tank is original and gives that swampy Dick Dale Fender tone. All transformers are original and solid. The original Oxford speaker bears an early 1965 date code and sounds strong.

This blackface Princeton Reverb-Amp is an excellent example of an original piece that is ready to played. You won’t be disappointed with the way this one sounds.
