  • Description: In the early 1980s Fender® made an effort to reinvent itself employing talents like Paul Rivera and Dan Smith. The 1981-82 Standard Stratocaster® ("Dan Smith") was phased out in favor of a revised Standard Stratocaster® featuring only one volume knob and one tone knob and the input jack on the pickguard. Other features of the 1983-84 Standard Strats include the Fender® "FreeFlyte" tremolo system, smaller headstock with "New" headstock decal logo, and the return to the headstock for the truss rod adjustment (without the Bullet® this time). This guitar serial # E335236, is in very good condition, there are no fret wear issues and the neck is "right". There is some "belt rash" on the back but not through to the wood. Overall cosmetics are very good. This is a very nice playing Strat®, and it of course has the "sound". One could extol on and on about Fender®'s ownership by CBS, this guitar is among the last of the Strats made in USA under CBS ownership, which in itself is an important piece of Fender® history.
