This early '60s Fender Strat is the bee's knees, let me tell you! Plug it into a blackface Deluxe Reverb, crank the 'verb, and it will transport you back to the craziest surfin' safari you could imagine! The neck and pots date the guitar to 1961 although the neck plate serial is 70400 (early '62). The three tone sunburst nirtocellulose finish is in good shape on the top and has some nice honest natural wear on the back as well as the chrome hardware. None of the parts look to have been changed. The frets are a little worn but still have life left to them and the "slab" rosewood board makes every note feel like butter. It measures 1 11/16th" at the nut. The "D"-shaped neck is in fantastic shape with minimal wear and has a beautiful wood grain to it. It had been over-sprayed and then sanded down for optimal playability by local guitar artisan and friend of the shop Otto D'Ambrosio. The period-correct single coil pickups sound fantastic, chock full of gorgeous vintage Strat tones. There is a small crack in the mint green pickguard, right at the screw for the neck pickup (bass-hand side). It is missing the back plate of the trem system. The guitar weighs in at a comfortable 7 pounds 7 ounces. Overall this is one of our favorite vintage Strats. Once you pick it up, you won't want to put it back down! Includes original hard shell case and vibrato arm.
