1963 Fender Stratocaster

Sunburst, VG++. Mostly stock but it has a new logo on a refinished headstock, done in the ‘80s. Also, the middle pickup has its leads reversed. Why? So when two pickups are selected it’s hum-canceling. Not rewound, just resoldered - see photos. The electronics are otherwise all stock. Other than the headstock the finish is all-original but if you look at the pictures you can see it’s been played. It’s been loved and dare we say it, it’s a tone monster. We’ve known this crazy good-sounding Strat for 20 years. One of our dealer buddies bought it two decades ago for his personal collection and then sold it to a mutual friend who’s owned it for about five years. His wanting a new house brings this to market again. We love guitars in this condition with the battle scars of years of club gigs making the well-played guitar more resonant than the unplayed examples. This one has great mojo and acoustic sonority. It’s also light at 7.25 pounds. The magic of this guitar is the sweet sound of the pickups. They are all balanced with each other, like we said sweet but with that famous early ‘60s bloom (like a bell) to each note. We warn you, you will fall in love. Condition? Please peruse the photos. Frets still work (they are original), and we would toss in a refret when you realize you’ll never sell it. On a guitar in this condition it will not make a difference to the value, as long as its close to the original fret size. Jumbo frets are not advised. Comes with original case, strap, and bridge cover but the term arm is a repro. Go look at other pre-CBS Strats on offer and you’ll see this is attractively priced.
