Lots of folks are partial to 63 Stratocasters. It's the neck profile that draws the Strat player to this year. Fat but not a baseball bat. Yeah, the slab boards get all the attention from the collectors but for players, a 63 seems to be a great fit. Must have been a new can of red paint-this one has a ton of red in it or maybe because it was December of 63 and the guys in the paint booth were obsessing on Santa Claus. It's been played hard and somehow never was modded in any way-it is bone stock. It's incredible to me that the ash tray and trem arm never got lost-I lost the ash tray to my Fenders in the first month when I was a kid (and played Fenders). Looks like original frets with a fair bit of life left in them. Player wear? Yep, plenty of that. Buckle rash? Got that too. Oddly, it was never subjected to that strange Fender phenomenon of players taking the finish off the back of the neck. It's all there and in great shape. This one isn't going to win any beauty contests but once you plug it in, you won't care. It loves a blackface Fender amp. Light weight at 7 lbs 5 ounces. Got that cool white case that showed up for just a year mostly on export guitars.
