There is a very reasonable reserve on this auction so don't be timid, this is a very nice auction and it could really make someone's Christmas a real dream! Beautiful find from the son of the first owner and literally under the bed for the majority of the past 42 years. Easily a collector level instrument, she's in near mint totally original and very clean condition with her trem bar and very clean OHSC. The son confirmed that this beauty was in the family since he could remember and that it was rarely played. Beautiful vibrant sunburst and incredibly resonant instrument that sounds wonderful plugged or otherwise. Fantastic clean finish all over too - this guitar would be dead mint save for about 20 pick scuffs above the pickguard, a very few very very small pecks, and the tiniest of indents on the first frets showing that someone once loved her only a tiny little bit! The pick scuffs look amenable to a bit of rubbing compound, but I'll leave that to you. Finish has the lightest of age yellowing and the cool crazing that these get, especially on the nitrocellulose lacquer of the maple neck. Missing only the back plate and screws but the rest is as she left California in the summer of love. The instrument authenticates perfectly to the Fullerton plant in 1966, all the way from the body cavity stamps, neck date, pickup and electronic date and virginity, right back to the neck plate serialization at 1733xx. By far the cleanest 66 we've seen in a long time and a worthy addition to your fine collection. This one has tone to the bone through a good tube amp with lots of variations, snap, tang, and pop! If you've been looking for one of these, this one is a fine sounding and very near perfect example of one of Fender®'s golden era historic guitars. Please shoot us your thoughts and/or contact us if we can provide an in-hand description or any details. Glad to send additional good resolution pictures at your request.
