Summary: Easily one of Fenders most infamous finishes is the greenish grey burst they call “Antigua”. This particular example has all the wear in all the right places. It sounds great, is all original and ships in its original hard-shell case with red plush interior and black tipped whammy bar. Our in house luthier has just set up and restrung this Strat with a new set of 10s and it plays superbly with nice low action and a straight neck.

Body: The body is solid alder with the original green Antigua finish.

Neck: It has a 3 bolt, one piece maple neck and fretboard with original bone nut, 21 frets, 25.5” scale length and 1 9/16” nut width. It has the bullet style truss rod adjustment at the larger style Fender headstock, F style tuning keys and neck tilt screw.

Pickups/Hardware: It has 3 original single coil pickups, 5 way switch, 1 volume, 2 tones, vibrato-bridge with 6 individual saddles, black plastic knobs, switch tip, pickup covers and back plate.

Cosmetics: This guitar was played quite a bit in its life and it really shows in the honest players wear it carries. The arm rest area has been worn through quite a bit, as well as the treble side cutaway side of the pickguard and the edge of the heel. There are a fair amount of nicks on the end of the headstock. There are a few chips in the neck and some discoloration in the finish, most notably the ½” chip between the 1st and 2nd fret which has turned a dark color. There are some chips and wear around the edges and face of the fretboard but they don’t hinder its playability. The body has its fair share of minor chips, dings and pick scratches as well as a hazy look to the finish in some places. Overall this guitar is in fine vintage condition, looks great and wears its well-earned battle scars quite well.

Playability: Our in house luthier has just inspected, set up and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s and it is playing beautifully with low action and a straight neck. The frets have some wear, mostly in the first few frets, but it isn’t detrimental to the playability. There is still plenty of life left in them.
