Offered for sale;

Used 1979 Fender Stratocaster serial number S934877. This guitar is in very good to excellent condition. The neck and frets are fine, cosmetically quite nice.

Upon close examination we made some interesting observations. When viewing the interior of the guitar, as seen in our photos, the neck code is at the butt end and you can see a plug for the old 4-bolt style neck truss-rod adjustment. Yet at the bottom of the neck there’s the disc for the 3 bolt micro-tilt and the anchor for the bullet style truss-rod. This is quite unusual. You can also see where the 4-bolt holes were drilled and fill at the factory.

Here’s what Bill Imperial theorizes: This neck was hanging around since the early ‘70s 4 bolt days and someone at Fender made an executive decision to convert it for 1979 3-bolt usage. Plug the now obsolete holes and fit it with all the 3-bolt accoutrements. Quite a story!  Also you’ll see in the photos that the pickup pole pieces were grounded. We’ve seen this once before, most likely to reduce hum. We also speculate it is possible that the neck & bridge pickups were rewound. The winding formers appear to be original (although the codes are not readable) but the neck pickup DC resistance is 7.16 K ohms, the bridge pickup is 9.89 K ohms. Both notably higher than the expected 5.49 K ohms of the middle pickup.

Some out of the ordinary observations to be sure, on a guitar that plays and sounds exactly as it should. Nice Strat ready to keep playing!

Original hard shell case included.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
