  • Description: The Fender® Super Reverb® was introduced in 1963 and was discontinued in 1982. This was essentially (but not exactly) a brown Concert amplifier with built-in reverb. There were two different designs, distinguishable by the color of the "face" or front control panel. Very briefly: Super Reverbs from 1963 through 1967 had "black face" panels. From 1968 until its discontinuation in 1982, the Super Reverb® had "silverface" cosmetics and circuitry. The "Blackface" Super Reverb® is a benchmark for "Tube Tone", many guitarists prefer the 4x10 speaker configuration above any other. Stevie Ray Vaughan knew this. Here are the stories on this particular example (model AB763). It's had a semi-pro regrille. Looks good but clearly not a factory job. The 2 top speakers are Webber Sig10F-S. The 2 bottom speakers appear to be the original 1965 oxford 10"ers with Jensen labels slapped on. It's got a new reverb tank. The transformers are all original, 2 dated 1964 and 2 dated 1965. It's been recapped and converted to a solid state rectifier. This piece of history sounds like it should and wants to be gigged more and more. Keep it out of the museum and make musical history.
