  • Description: 1954/1969 Telecaster® in factory Lake Placid Blue. I bought this guitar from the original owner's son for myself and it is an interesting story. I have owned it for several years but in this economy .... anything goes. Its 1 of the VERY best teles i have ever. This guitar started out as a 1954 blond Tele®. The owner played it almost to death. Wore out the orig finish as is so common in old fenders so he sanded off the remineants of the org finish and played it "natural" for many years. You can see where the body is actually a tiny tad thinner due to a sturdy sanding. It is such a feather too BUT not because of the sanding. This swamp ash Tele® is a total of 6 lbs 6 oz's soaking wet!! By the late 60s he had also worn out the neck pretty well by then so he sent the guitar back to Fender® for a refret. When they saw how deep the grooves in the fingerboard were they did what Fender®, especially post cbs Fender® was known to. They factory refin'd it (Lake Placid Blue as per his preference) and replaced the neck (non laminated board) and hardware in late 68 into early 1969. One pot and brass saddles are newer. The body still has the red markings in the neck slot as they did in 1954 and the rest is all dated. The case was a 68 style also upgraded at that time. This guitar has been with me for several years and i only keep THE best players and therefore i had it very pro refretted. When you play and hear this Tele® YOU'LL KNOW WHY I KEPT IT SO LONG!!! This guitar may be priced like a 60's because of the combined history but you can really hear the depth of the 50s body WELL beyond the sound of a late 60s Tele®. It has a very deep rich tonal pristine'ness that leaves you wanting a "post" playing cigarette. Mind if I smoke?
