This modified 1968 Fender Tele is on the top of the “must have” list for all of us here at Empire. It is substantially lighter than most guitars Fender put out during this time period. The Jason Lollar-designed Charlie Christian neck pickup immediately sets this one apart from the rest with its amazingly fat and punchy tone. The 25.5” scale neck has a large rounded C-shaped neck profile with 21 frets and has the feel of a guitar that was well-played and well-loved. The frets are pretty well-worn and it will likely need a re-fret in the near future. The back of the neck has quite a bit of wear as well. The additions and subtractions on this particular instrument are the replaced saddles, older black Schecter tuning gears, a Seymour Duncan style rail pick-up in the bridge position, and a newer black pick guard. The saddles are somewhat worn on top and the bridge plate has a bit of pitting going on. There are a few dings in the finish on the top of the body as well as two small holes that look to have been drilled towards the bass side bottom edge of the body. The pickguard has some pick scratches on both sides of the strings. There are additional holes in the headstock from the previous tuners. This Tele was thrown together by a pro with exquisite taste and sensibilities. A mutt like this is just looking for the right owner who will love and cherish it ‘til the end of time! Comes with gig bag.
