  • Description: Those of you who follow my site and listings know what a Tele® fanatic I am. Well folks, check this one out. This is a Fred Stuart Silverhawk, essentially a recreation of the original Clarence White '56 Telecaster® (before his many subsequent mods). Fred Stuart, along with John Page, Jay Black and Mike Stevens, was one of the original Fender® Master Builders and was significant to the creation of the Fender® Custom Shop. Fred builds his guitars to custom order only and in very small quantities. He hand builds all the components of each guitar, including the bodies, necks and pickups. I've even read that he even threads his own truss rods - talk about hand-made! All Fred's guitar orders are processed through Virtual Vintage Guitars & Amps of Southern California should you wish to do further research on Fred's long luthier history. Silverhawk number 0075 that is offered here was completed in October, 2009. It is based on the specs of a 1956 Telecaster® like Clarence White's guitar (before its subsequent modification). It has: an offset seam premium Ash body finished in vintage-correct nitro-cellulose lacquer ; a one-piece quartersawn Maple neck with a relatively large 10/56 profile; vintage/modified fret wire; custom wound Stuart pickups including his trademark "Blackguard" bridge single coil with raised D and G® poles and a Tall/Twisted single coil in the neck position; four-way switching; a vintage style bridge with stainless steel saddles; and vintage style Kluson tuners. This guitar is 7.8 lb. Tele® tone machine! I would categorize the condition of this guitar as excellent+. Upon very close inspection you will find very fine clearcoat-only handling and play scuffs and a pen tip sized impression or two, but as evidenced by the included pics, this guitar has been well loved and cared for - no nicks or scratches of significance. The frets show a bit of wear, but have years of life left in them. Includes a lovely tooled thermometer case with the "Stuart" logo stiched into the interior lid. The price of this guitar when ordered would have been somewhere north of $3K, with a wait of many months. Get this "Master-Built" custom one-off for quite a bit less.
