  • Description: Description: 1964 Gibson Firebird III electric guitar in rare, original cherry finish!

    Cosmetic Condition: Great condition overall. Some minor nicks & dings & light finish haze on the bottom side, probably due to a chemical reaction from being inside a case. There are some heavy scratches on the back control cover over the previous owner's name that was scratched into the plastic. However, there are no breaks, cracks or repairs.

    Issues: The original tremolo tailpiece is missing as is the original hard shell case.

    Weight: 8 lbs 1 oz.

    Neck: Flat, wide mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard. Pearloid dot inlays. Minimal fret wear. Gibson banjo style tuners. 1.50" nut width.

    Body: Neck-thru design with mahogany wings. Nickel hardware. Pickguard is in great condition with the Firebird logo completely intact.

    Pickups: Dual Gibson mini humbuckers & original pots date to 1964.

    Set Up: Professionally set up & intonated by our own luthier before it ships.

    Playability / Sound: Nice, low action; smooth comfortable neck - plays great! Killer vintage mini humbucker tones!

    Case: Non-original, heavy duty road case included.

    Historical Info: The Firebird III made its debut in 1963, making this one a second-year production model. Most of the Firebirds you see these days are finished in sunburst, so this one is quite rare indeed.
