Gibson's plainest, most basic amplifier in the early 1950's, the BR-9 was offered as part of a set with a matching-finish lap steel. These were sold primarily through music teaching studios to the hordes of students lining up to learn Steel guitar in the late '40's and early '50's. The amp features a neat, attractive rounded edge trapezoidal cabinet with cream Tolex covering and a back-painted plexi faceplate. A sweet-sounding if not particularly loud amp, good for recording or home use.Height is 12 5/8 in. (32.1 cm.), 14 1/2 in. (36.8 cm.) width, and 6 1/2 in. (16.5 cm.) deep. Very fine original condition; no visible alterations-appears all original including tubes, handle and cord/plug. Some light staining to the top of the case beneath the handle where it looks like the cord was coiled for some time. Excellent + Condition.
