In the 1930s, Montgomery Ward had guitars made for them with the "Carson J.Robison" name, to take advantage of the popularity of that cowboy singing star of the day. By 1936, these guitars were being made for Ward's by Gibson, with the later ones like this having the identical body contour and dimensions of Gibson fabulous L-0 and L-00 models. The main difference was straight bracing under the top instead of X-bracing; otherwise, these were essentially L-00 Gibsons with few minor exceptions. The particular example that we have is near-mint, with no cracks and no repairs ever. The action is low and easy and a delight to play; the tone is bright and clear. With its original tuners, bridge pins and everything else, including that beautiful Gibson sunburst finish, it's going to be hard to find anotherin anywhere near this nice condition. Comes with its original case. $2895 w/ossc
