  • Description: This sunburst Gibson lap steel guitar is a model EH-125. The prewar EH-125s were only built from 1940-1942. The single piece mahogany body is triple bound on the top and single bound on the back. The lap steel weighs 5.2 pounds. The overall length is 32 inches. The neck is 2 1/4" at the nut and the scale length is 22 3/4". It has a single coil metal covered pickup with a slim simulated tortoise cover in the middle. The fretboard is black painted metal with 29 frets and ten ornamental metal inlays. Other features include a five sided metal control plate, Grover Sta-Tite tuners, two bakelite knobs for tone and volume control, and a pearloid fleur-de-lis headstock inlay with Gibson logo. The decomposing tuning buttons were replaced with new ones and the cover over the bridge/tailpiece is missing. Otherwise everything appears to be all original. The volume knob on the left is turned counter clockwise to increase volume. The EH-125 is a fine playing lap steel with a nice wide square neck. The pickup has a good tone and volume. There are some dings and scrapes in a variety of locations, but the overall impression is that it had more care than most Gibson Lap Steel of this vintage. It comes with the original tweed case with brown lining.
