  • Description: With its wide, very round neck, fat P-90 pickup, and woody, punchy tone, this ES-150 is a classic example of Gibson‚Äôs pioneering electric jazz guitar. After its 1936 introduction, the ES-150, like all Gibson electrics, ceased production during World War II. In 1947, it was reintroduced, and this 1948 model is a great example of this early-modern jazz box. It‚Äôs had a bit of hardware replaced‚Äîreplaced pickguard mounts, for example‚Äîbut the unnumbered barrel knobs, open-back tuners, and tortoiseshell pickguard are original. With its low but very playable original frets, this is a great throwback piece for the everyday jazz player. Summary Body: 17" wide hollowbody. Laminated maple top, maple back and sides. Tobacco sunburst finish. Nice birdseye figuring around the tailpiece. Neck: Mahogany with bound rosewood fingerboard, dot inlays. Wide, extremely round profile (similar to '40s J-45). Pickups/Hardware: One P-90. Nickel single-diamond tailpiece, rosewood bridge, unnumbered barrel knobs, open-back tuners, beveled 3-ply tortoiseshell pickguard. Setup/Playability: Quite a lot to handle with its neck shape--very full and great with both chords and leads. Low but playable original frets. Punchy tone unplugged and warm plugged in. Cosmetic Condition: Surprisingly clean top with a nice sheen. Some assorted scratches on the back, dings and plenty of checking on the back of the neck that doesn't affect playability. Modifications: Replaced pickguard mounts. Weight: 6lbs 2oz
