Description

You want a dot neck but the only year you can afford is a 61. 61's can have neck problems and they are almost never disclosed. I've owned a few dozen 61's and about a third of them have a hairline crack down the back of the neck. That is from the truss rod being so close to the surface of the wood that it splits when overtightened. It's not a structural crack-there is no great tension there once the crack is repaired. I've seen it called a check, a "grain separation", a scratch or simply not mentioned at all in the hope that nobody will notice. It can be an inch long or it can be 14 inches long. This 61 had a 1.5" crack and has been repaired. If I didn't tell you it was there, you wouldn't know. The neck was not oversprayed. The guitar is in excellent condition and plays beautifully. It is all original except for the frets which were done recently. It has PAFs that probably have had the covers removed at some point. They are not rewound. The neck measures .81" at the first fret and .87" at the 12th. It weighs just 7 lbs 11 ounces. Never had a Bigsby or other tailpiece. Never had other tuners. This guitar is bone stock. Clean Gibson badged case is original.
