How can you go wrong here? A vintage 60s ES-335 at a price point that is less than a new Custom Shop. Here we have a 1967 Gibson ES-335 in what appears to be heavily faded factory original or factory refinished Sparkling Burgundy finish. Factory refin? Now why would we think that? The finish shows much finish checking and wear and is consistent with finishes from the 60s, the guitar blacklights just as it should and the color and fade is dead on. That said, there is no serial on the back of the headstock and instead the serial is stamped in the neck pickup cavity. The hardware is all chrome, it has the post ’65 1 9/16th nut width with tampered neck, and all the pots date to 1967. Now, at some point in this guitar’s life it suffered a brutal headstock break that was poorly repaired. That said, although it’s not the prettiest job it is stable and has been stable for many, many years. The original Patent Number pickups sound fantastic and help with this guitar the ring and tone these 60s 335s are known for. Most of the parts and hardware are original and this one comes with a non original hardshell case and custom made strap by the previous owner. This one won’t win a beauty contest but it sure is a great player!
