Description

Gibson ES125 1957 | $2700 | (v2236) This is about as clean a vintage guitar that one could hope to find .. one owner, near mint condition, original case, no repairs! The ES125 was kind of like the J45, an electric workhorse of a guitar made from quality materials but affordable to the working musician. The run lasted from the 1940s into 1970. This example, from 1957, features the P90 pickup with adjustable poles.

The top and back are laminated maple; the sides are mahogany. The top features the iconic Gibson sunburst. Both top and back are bound in white celluloid. The fingerboard is Brazilian rosewood, unbound, with pearl dot position markers and an adjustable truss rod. The headstock is painted black with the Gibson logo in gold block-style letters. The top features a tone and volume control, a faux-tortoise pickguard, Brazilian adjustable bridge and a trapeze-type tailpiece. The tuners are replacement Klusons from the period (original owner replaced the original tuners years ago).

The body measures 16 1/4" across at the loser bout. Scale length is 24 3/4". The neck measures 1 11/16" across at the nut, and string spacing is 2 1/16" across at the saddle.

The guitar has had no prior repairs other than the tuneres replaced. We sourced some period-correct Kluson tuners. The frets were leveled and dressed, and that's it! The action is set at about 5/64" and the guitar plays easily.

Comes with its original brown, faux-alligator soft case which features the Gibson label on the accessories box .. in very good condition!
