This Gibson Firebird was made in the USA in 1965. This is a early '65 reverse firebird, that has the transitional non-reverse headstock. Sometimes called a the "platypus" model. It plays and sounds great, and there are no breaks or repairs. The bridge, tailpiece, knobs, truss rod cover, and neck pickup are original. The bridge pickup is a 70's patent stamped firebird pickup. The pots are all newer. We're not sure on the pickguard, it looks old, but there's no bird on it. When we got this there were no tuners on it, and we bought a set of original banjo firebird tuners from a reputable parts purveyor. Only upon installing them did we learn that they turn in 2 different directions (3 clockwise, 3 counter clockwise) - go figure. It comes with a 60's baldwin case which were made by the same company that made the Firebird cases. The guitar is set-up and plays great.
