Description

Gibson introduced the Hummingbird in 1960 as their first venture into the world of square-shouldered dreadnaughts. This 1966 model has a fantastic-looking natural finish single-X-braced spruce top with mahogany back and sides. Sonically this is among the best sounding acoustics we’ve had the pleasure of hanging on our wall. It has amazing bass response while still remaining balanced. It projects fabulously without sounding boomy or muddy. The gorgeous double parallelogram Mother of Pearl inlays grace the rosewood fret board on its 24.75” scale mahogany neck. The multi-bound top, intricately designed Hummingbird pick guard, and the rosewood bridge all serve to add an unprecedented level of class and style to this beautiful vintage instrument. The guitar has some moderate playwear such as pick scratches on the bass-string side of the top and some light belt rash/scratching on the back. There is a very small section on the bridge where it is lifting, near the corner on the treble string side. There is also a very small crack at the heel of the neck, likely from an over-tightened strap button. The binding has yellowed around the body and slightly yellowed on the neck, especially towards the uppermost frets. The frets have a little wear but still have plenty of life. The guitar plays perfectly and the action is very comfortable. Whether you’re playing some old school country & western, pop, rock, or are just in the market for a renowned acoustic that sounds as good as it looks this puppy has yer name on it! Comes with hard shell case.
