Description
Gibson / 1964 J-160E

J-160E that production started in 1954.
This model was made before the development of piezo PU, and can be said to be the originator of the acoustic guitar along with the CF-100E.

This time we introduce 1964 J-160E manufactured in 1995.
As the model name says, it is a reissue model of 1964, but it is a little irregular.
First of all, except for the first year of 1954, the body top is usually made of plywood, but this model has a veneer top.
Also, it has a straight saddle instead of an adjustable saddle, which was the usual specification in the 1960s.
The most surprising thing is the thickness of the neck, which is very thick like that of the 1950s, making it very comfortable to hold.

I can only speculate, but I think that the 1964 model name is wrong and 1954 is correct. That would make sense.

In any case, the sound is quite different because of the veneer.
Of course, the straight saddle and extra-thick neck also contribute to this, but it is loud enough to be played without an amplifier.
