  • Description: Description provided by Gruhn Guitars: Serial number 348428 is consistent with a manufacture date early in the year 1966. We have been provided the following description: "Gibson J-200 Custom. Serial 348428 printed inside the sound hole on a faded yellowish oval sticker. also on back of headstock. Does not say 'Made in USA' on back of Headstock. 'Custom' engraved into truss rod cover. great condition except for worn saddle and minor mark on lower boday on top. Guitar belonged to noted jazz player Andy Mingione of New Jersey. Though there is no documentation to prove it, other than his name on the original case that comes with the guitar. Based upon examination it is evident that the original tune-o-matic bridge saddle has been removed and replaced with an insert which contains a standard non-adjustable saddle. In other respects it conforms to the typical specifications of the model for the period in which it was made with 17 inch wide body, Sitka spruce top, neck constructed of three pieces of maple with two narrow dark laminations, maple back and sides, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with single white binding and crown shaped inlays, single bound peghead with Gibson and crown shaped inlay, "waffle back" gold plated Kluson tuners, multiple bindings on the top and back edges of the body, wood marquetry back stripe, typical engraved J-200 pickguard, mustache shaped Brazilian rosewood bridge with pearl inlays, and sunburst finish ("natural" blond finish was also available as an option on this model). The word Custom engraved on the truss rod cover does not indicate that this was a custom order instrument. All J-200s of this time period featured this style truss rod cover. The guitar is described and shown as best I can (thanks to Gruhn Guitars for their help) It plays very well, and has a big booming Gibson voice. The saddle it sitting low and could do with replacing. Neck seems fine and there is no fret buzz. All sales are final (no returns) unless destroyed in transit.
