  • Description: ON HOLD! -- Here is a very special banner J-45 with one-piece mahogany top, back, and sides. It’s a beautiful iced-tea burst with little checking, playwear, or scratching. There is one small 2-inch crack emanating from the wing of the bridge, repaired and stable. The tortoise guard is almost perfect with just a hint of shrinkage. The back and sides are also very nice. They have been stained dark and, unlike most J-45s, there’s no cracking or flaking and very little checking. It’s one of the cleanest examples I’ve had. The neck is the 3-piece maple laminate with the walnut stripe. It does have an adjustable truss rod. Tuners are the original three-to-a-strip Klusons. The logo and banner look fresh and the back of the neck has minimal wear though the finish does leave these maple necks sooner than the mahogany ones. The inside is very clean. Even the FON looks fresh and readable. The bridge plate is quite clean and has a few beads of hide glue popping out and it’s the correct material, size, and shape. There are no scratch marks around it to indicate that one has been removed and the original bolts are there but it looks quite fresh and may not be original. The bridge itself may be a replacement but the size, shape, and materials are all correct. The tone is much warmer than most J-45 without sacrificing the volume or the punch and drive when played hard. It’s a very cool alt-country guitar with that great rock and roll tone. It comes in a 30s non-Gibson hardshell case with a large F-clef embossed in the top and a pink salmon colored interior.
