FON 782. Exquisite early example of Gibson’s most popular depression-era small bodied flattop the venerable L-00. Rarely do I find one in such good cosmetic and playing condition. This one has the preferred small yellow sunburst, unbound back, tapered headstock and low FON that identify it as a 1933. It has the bound top, firestripe guard tending toward the tortoise, rosewood rectangular bridge and fretboard, and tapered headstock. The finish is very fresh, shiny, and only lightly checked. The braces are tight and bridge plate original. Even the linen at the crosshairs of the x-brace shows very clean. No cracks. All the requisite maintenance has been performed including a neck reset and great fret job. It plays very smoothly up and down the neck and the action is just right. The 1 ¾ nut width and soft V-shaped neck feel just right. No capo marks. The tuners have been replaced and the bridge may be a repro but if so it’s a good one. The nut has been replaced with the correct ebony material. The setup is spot on. If you’ve been looking for a clean one that plays right and sounds great, search no more. Comes with great fitting modern brown case with purple plush lining. On consignment.
