1936 Gibson L-00 Sunburst, Excellent, Original Soft, $4,850.00
A stellar example of the ever popular Gibson L-00. The guitar is entirely original but for the saddle (the original is in the case). Mahogany back and sides, spruce top with a stunning sunburst, mahogany neck with Brazilian fingerboard. Original Brazilian bridge which retains its original finish. Original brass Grover tuners which echo the signature Gibson headstock profile (one wood screw has its head broken off). The guitar is crack free, retains its original finish (shows a good bit of checking), which sparkles, and has no repair work in its history but for a recent neck set and bridge reglue. The fingerboard and frets are excellent and show no playing wear.
By '36, the L-00 neck profile evolved into a soft 'V', very comfortable in the hand. Scale length is 24 3/4" and the fingerboard measures 1 3/4" across at the nut. Action is set at 6/64", and the guitar plays well and produces the strong and resonant tones that only a '30s Gibson L-00 seems to produce. Comes with its original soft case.
