  • Description: Built in Kalamazoo, MI, the L7 was considered to be the affordable version of Gibson L5. It is a noncutaway archtop handcarved guitar that first came into production in 1933. The solid mahogany neck has a rosewood fretboard with 18 frets and eight ornate picture frame mother of pearl inlays. The neck scale length is 25 1/2" and the width at the bone nut is 1 11/16". The guitar weighs 5 lbs 6 oz. The top, back, neck and headstock are all bound. It has a handcarved solid bookmatched spruce top. The back and sides are maple and the flame on the back is amazing. There is a a faded oval paper label inside the guitar with the model number and serial number which is also imprinted on the back of the headstock. Other features include an adjustable rosewood bridge, a trapeze art Deco™ tailpiece with pointed ends and raised arrowheads, and an ivory colored end pin. The original tuners have been changed to newer Kluson style tuners with plastic tulip buttons. The pickguard is missing. The back of the neck shows some wear. There are four visible age cracks on the top: one above and one below the right f hole, a smaller one one below the neck joint and one at the middle seam at the bottom of the guitar. There is a small crack on the upper side. There is an average amount of weather checking in the finish. This Gibson L7 has a loud, crisp, sweet tone with good sustain that should have a lot of playing life left. We are providing a new TKL 7820 hardshell case.
