Can you say, “Frampton Comes Alive?” This guitar was purchased from the original owner whose name was Harvey Redding. Included with this guitar, you will receive the original packing slip from Chicago Musical Instruments (where he bought it) dated 3-23-60. Also included are the printed instructions for Humbucking Pickup Adjustments, the Tune-O-Matic bridge, and the Gibson hang tag that asks for Professionals Attention and advises the use of “Gibson Hi-Fi strings for low action settings.” Harvey’s name is still dymotaped to the back of the headstock. The very coolest item that comes with this guitar is a cassette tape (we took the liberty of converting it to CD as well) which has a live gig on it dating from Valentines Day, 1984. The gig has Harvey and the boys (Charley, Boots, Smokey, and Bruce), playing some great standards at the Hoosier Village in Indianapolis. This guitar is Gibson’s top of the line Les Paul. It sports three rare PAF (Patent Applied For) humbucking pickups. The three double-blacks measure 8.26 k ohms for the neck, 8.01 k ohms for the middle, and 8.06 k ohms for the bridge…all measured at the jack. All of the electronics work great and the pickups will give you everything from super cool smoothness to snarling bite and tone that won’t quit. You can’t come close to that kind of playability or sound with any new guitar. The neck, with its ebony finger board is awesome on this Custom…it’s a little fatter than the average 1960 profile and the all original frets have plenty of wear left. The neck is dead straight and the truss rod works as intended. The solder joints, potentiometers, and switch are untouched on this one owner Les Paul. This Black Beauty is one of those iconic guitars that will always be sought after by players and collectors alike and as you can see, this one has it all. We were lucky enough to acquire this classic and now we are making it available to you.
