1983 Gibson Les Paul Custom Dark Burst, Good, Hard, $1,650.00

This gorgeous-playing early 1980s Les Paul Custom has certainly seen some rough stuff in its day! It looks to have suffered some water damage at some point in its 30 plus years on this planet; when we originally took it in we had to re-glue and clamp the top down to repair said damage. However there’s just something about the damage that just gives this baby a certain je-ne-sais-quoi; maybe for the lack of a better term we’ll call it a “vibe”. It definitely looks and feels “lived-in”, for what it’s worth! Much of the gold on the hardware has worn and there’s some pitting in the tuning machines. The slim taper neck feels fantastic, with a nice and snappy ebony finger board, wide and low LP Custom frets, and that distinctive Gibson “Custom” insignia. The binding has a nicely yellowed and aged look; there is a piece of binding missing around the treble-hand side of the top of the headstock. Despite all the wear and water damage the beautiful ruddy burst of the finish still shines through. Our staff guitar tech not only handled the repairs (like a boss!) but he also set this one up with nice and comfortable low action. The pickups are chock full of that classic Gibson humbucker tone, perfect for pushing properly-dimed tube amps into the outer stratosphere. Like many ‘70s/early ‘80s Les Pauls, it’s a beast, weighing in at about 11 lbs 2 ounces. A padded shoulder strap is definitely recommended for this one! Overall if you are looking for an affordable Custom with a story to tell then this puppy should be right up your alley! Don’t let it slip away because it won’t stick around for long!
