Description

Extremely rare 2000 Gibson Les Paul Playboy Model serial number 14. There were two subsequent Playboy Models made in much higher numbers, but this is the first of them and total production was 15 instruments. This particular version was available from the Playboy catalog only and the price was an extravagant $5000. We've read literature that suggests that the majority of these 15 instruments were going to be given to celebrities and VIPs. The remaining instruments could then be ordered from the catalog, if you had 5K, tax and shipping. This is the second to the last one made, it's near mint and all original. Loosely based on a Les Paul Custom, this rare bunny is fancy but with a flat top and nickel hardware. There's a bunny head inlayed into the LP Custom style headstock, Playboy's font logo inlayed into the fingerboard and a large bunny head inlayed into the flat top of the body, single bound with LP Custom style multi ply binding. The large bunny head has come loose, bottom edge and a little on the head stock bunny as well, a simple fix with a little glue. Clean all original with a perfectly straight neck and working truss rod, no modifications or repairs. Near mint with some minor evidence of playing and usage, some superficial scratches and random small marks, a very clean example of an impossible to get model Les Paul. Included is the original Custom Shop case, warranty card and Playboy catalog it was ordered from. Extremely collectable and a great investment. was $8500 now $3999. VGA
