  • Description: So it’s 1960 and you’re a southpaw. You decide it would be cool to play the electric guitar so you convince your folks to order you a Gibson Les Paul Special in Cherry…a lefty! It had to be special ordered…it took quite a while…and then finally, it came in. You take a few lessons and you try your best. You put together a garage band with a few high school friends, but as luck would have it, you’ve got absolutely no talent! Guess it’s time to slide that lefty special under the bed and maybe consider playing first base for the local high school baseball team. Fast forward 50 years, to 2010…here we have that 1960 Lefty Special in Cherry. I won’t try to tell you that this guitar is totally mint, but it sure is close. This is one of those guitars that fits into the “just try to find another one” category. There’s no fade to the cherry finish. The frets are in “as new” condition. The neck plays like a dream and the tuners and truss rod work as intended. When I say that the electronics are in as-new condition, I mean as new!!! The three potentiometer codes we can see read the 27th week of 1960. The blazing P-90s, when measured at the output jack, read 8.70 k ohms for the bridge pickup and 8.08 k ohms for the neck pickup. This baby screams! One thing we want to mention is that the pickup selector switch has been factory wired backwards. Up is treble (bridge) and down is rhythm (neck). This lefty Special weighs in at 7 lbs 2 oz and comes with its original “gator” case. As always, it will be professionally packed with care.
