For sale is this vintage 1946 Gibson LG-2 flat top acoustic guitar. This particular example, which does not have a visible FON [factory order number (serial number)] is in very excellent 100% all original condition! Though this variety LG-2 does not have a banner decal reading “Only a Gibson is Good Enough” below the elegant script “Gibson” logo, it is identical to its war-era predecessor in every other respect. With absolutely no issues whatsoever, and an original well-preserved finish, this small body x-braced acoustic sounds absolutely fantastic. Though a comparable condition Banner Model LG-2 would cost in excess of $5,000.00, we have priced this fine example accordingly, so if you’ve been looking for a clean LG-2, look no further, but if you want both tops condition and an amazing-sounding example, hurry and buy this now before someone else does!

This ’46 Gibson LG-2 features: a bound spruce top with the original 3-tone sunburst finish, bound mahogany back and mahogany sides, 1-piece mahogany neck, a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays,a transitional Gibson script headstock logo with no banner graphic, 3-on-a-side Kluson tuning machines with original plastic buttons, small rectangular rosewood bridge with two pearl dots and the original black bridge pins, a tortoise pickguard, and the refined x-braced construction.

Not only is this guitar cosmetically very clean, but it is structurally perfect. There isn’t evidence of a loose brace, a lifting bridge, a slightly warping neck, the smallest seam separation, or the tiniest pickguard crack. There is nothing physically wrong nor not original with this guitar. Though there are no breaks, no cracks, no repairs, and no modifications, there is some evidence of finish flaking from the base of the neck heel. Otherwise, there is extremely minimal playing wear, with no real evidence of pick wear nor buckle rash.

For some, condition is quite important, for others, structural integrity is key, but for everybody, tone is held in highest regard. And for all who care, this guitar couldn’t sound any better. With a 1 3/4″ nut width, a large profile D-shape neck, a perfectly flat Spruce top, and a pristine neck angle, it would be difficult to imagine a better playing, better sounding example. It is clear, balanced, and robust, with a voicing that will out perform some of the best pre-war Gibon jumbos when in front of a microphone. The original frets exhibit only the most superficial of playing wear, which enable effortless and highly comfortable action. No setup necessary, this LG-2 comes to you with fresh Pyramid .011 Bronze strings.
