  • Description: Here we have, believe it or not, a FINE sounding and playing Gibson Mk 72. These were a noble experiment which never really caught on. A physicist named Kasha spent some theorizing about acoustic guitars. Richard Schneider built some guitars using these principles, mostly classical guitars, and was hired by Gibson to implement some of the new ideas. This example is Spruce and Rosewood, which looks Brazillian, although that is not in the specs. It is a mini-jumbo, j-85 sized guitar. They have a hybrid fan/x bracing pattern. They had a ceramic, slide out saddle for height adjustments, which probably contributed to their demise. Ours is replaced with an intonated bone version (we made it), and out guitar sounds and plays great with nice low action. And it's reasonable, with only a few very tiny dings, no fret wear, or repairs or breaks of any kind. It's a really nice guitar! Go figure.
