  • Description: FS: 1998 Gibson R8 "Reissue Burst Conversion". This R8 started out as one of the best sounding reissues I have ever owned and with a Killer top. A full "Reissue Burst Conversion" was completed to make this as close to vintage as you can get. The conversion includes: steam out neck, remove fingerboard, remove condom truss rod and install a correct vintage style truss rod, install 50's looking dark black Brazilian fingerboard using hot hide glue, install 50's style nitrate inlays, reshape the neck profile (remove shoulders), rebind body & neck, recarve top to a closer 50's profile, glue neck in with hot hide glue, finish with aniline dyes, nitrocellulous lacquer, restamp original S/N, silk screen LP Model back on headstock, fret with 6100 frets, new bone nut. Manlius "Landmark" PAF clone pickups. Retrospec 1" bushings with the 1-1/2" studs, Gotoh featherweight tailpiece, 2" SS bridge posts, no-wire Gibson ABR1 bridge. New plastic includes: MoJo pickguard, VooDoo rings, switch ring, input jack ring. Grover tuners. The guitar weighs 8lbs 13 oz. Original parts included.
