Description

1940 Recording King Model A by Gibson in very good condition. This is a rare model that was only made from 1938-1940. Gibson manufactured Recording Kings guitars for sale through Montgomery Wards catalogue. The Model A is the similar to the Gibson ES-150 commonly known as the Charlie Christian model. 16" body with maple back and sides and solid spruce top. The internal bracing is the same as an ES-150. Neck has metal non-adjustable truss rod, V profile, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, 1 23/32" wide at the nut. All original hardware including, tuners, electronics, bridge, tailpiece, and even pickguard and knobs. We straightened the neck and refretted with vintage correct fret wire. It plays perfectly all the way up the neck with easy action. The pickup has the unmistakable distinct Charlie Christian sound. This is like the early versions before the notch for the B string was added. The only non-original part is the out put jack which is a newer replacement. A very cool and hard to find early electric guitar. Includes original soft case.
